Sri Lankans troops have set an example to the worl

0th June 2009 -Army Chief General Sarath Fonseka has commented that the manner in which the Sri Lankan Army routed terrorism is an example to other forces in the world. He made this reference joining in a ceremony to salute officers and members of other ranks who were victorious in the final phase of the battle against terrorism. On arrival in Mullativu, General Fonseka was greeted by Commander of the 53rd Division Major General Kamal Gunaratne, Commander of the 59th Division Major General Nandana Udawatte, Commander of the 55th Division Brigadier Prasanna Silva and Commander of Task Force Eight Colonel Ravipriya. After inspecting the first Sinha Regiment Headquarters, the Army Chief was accorded a Guard of Honour. This is the first visit by the Army Commander to the area. He did not forget to salute the divers team of the Special Task Force who discharged an outstanding service in operations to liberate the civilian hostages. Expressing views to the media, General Sarath Fonseka said the world has to learn much from the Sri Lankan troops. Many countries will voluntarily offer to learn. When human rights allegations were made in Geneva against the country, many countries stood on behalf of Sri Lanka.
