President refers to Opposition Leaders responsibilities

President Rajapaksa has referred to the responsibilities of the opposition. He pointed out that they should battle not against the country but in fulfilling the objectives of the masses. The President said there is an Opposition Leader in the country today. But he does not see an Opposition Leader. He is not giving leadership to the opposition in Parliament. He is opposing the country. Although his duty is to oppose the government in Parliament, he is working against the country. He is betraying the country. The President said the Opposition Leader was calling on foreign governments not to extend the GSP assistance, the IMF loan and the other assistance to the country. The President was addressing the Hambantota district Sri Lanka Freedom Party representatives. It was held at Temple Trees. Members of the Maha Sangha, Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Nimal Siripala De Silva, Chamal Rajapaksa, Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Rohitha Abeygunawardena and Mahinda Amaraweera, Parliamentarian Nirupama Rajapaksa and Southern Governor Kumari Balasuriya were present.
