President Rajapakse has said that he was able to uncover vital information on the programmes mooted by the LTTE in collaboration with several Non-Governmental Organisations in the past.
The President said during his visit to Kilinochchi he was able to notice that no development had taken place. He queried as to what had happened to the large funds secured from abroad as well as given by the government? He said the LTTE had built bunkers with these funds. He had a view of the house and the bunker of Thamil Shelvam. The iron, cement and all the other building material had been used to build bunkers and palatial houses for the LTTE leaders. No roads or schools had been built. But the NGOS were always active in the area. The President stressed that his onus is to provide that development to the other people as well.
The President was addressing a gathering of trishaw representatives at Temple Trees. Speaking further he said he is not the leader of a certain region but of the entire country. He emphasised that he would not hesitate to fulfil the responsibilities he is tasked with in this respect. The President opined that it was the present Government which accorded due recognition to all professions.
A CD produced by three wheeler drivers was handed over to the President. Ministers Mahindananda Aluthgame and Mervyn Silva and Monk Parliamentarian the Ven.Athureliye Rathana thera also expressed their views.
Ministers Mathiripala Sirisena, Dulles Alahapperuma and Jagath Pushpakumara, Deputy Minister Sarath Kumar Gunawarante, North Central Chief Minister Bertie Premalal Dissanayake, Presidential Advisor on Trade Unions, Baratha Lakshman Premachandra and representatives of Three Wheeler Association were also present.
