Earth bunds won’t save Kilinochchi

A pair of Mi-24 helicopter gunships zeroed-in on the target at 1.30 p. m. shortly after the 57 Division pushing towards the A 9 road reported the deployment of heavy machinery for the building of an earth bund.

The army regained the southern edge of the Akkarayankulam tank situated about 12 kilometres south-west of Kilinochchi town centre by August 22.

The ground realities in the Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu battlefronts have put the LTTE in total dilemma. In the main battlefront, the Tiger outfit is about to lose their de-facto capital Kilinochchi.

Prabhakaran commands battlefront from underground

At the moment, LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran lives in one of several underground bunkers in Mullaitivu, which are all interconnected via tunnels. Well informed sources said that Prabhakaran pays his last respects to his dead comrades from these bunkers, but pro-LTTE websites claim that he goes to where the bodies are kept. However, this is not true.

LTTE in a nerve-gas attack on the Sri Lankan troops

Sri Lankan troops who are only four kilometers away from the Kilinochchi town are wearing gas masks to protect themselves from the nerve-gas attacks by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. As predicted by the Asian Tribune, LTTE has launched the nerve- gas attack, as its last resort, which once hailed as secret weapon by late Anton Balasingham, LTTE’s ideologue.
