Sri Lanka War Situation Report 11/12/2008 - Video

The LTTE terrorists have suffered heavy damages in the string of air strikes launched by Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets at the Kilinochchi LTTE defence line since this morning (Dec 13).

According to Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara, nine air strikes were launched at the LTTE strongholds in the Kilinochchi and Paranthan area since 6.30 AM to 3 PM.


Sri Lanka listed for GSP+ extension subject to probe outcome

The European Commission has listed Sri Lanka among countries to which it is extending from next year the GSP Plus duty free trade deal but subject to the eventual outcome of an eligibility probe.
Trade experts said the listing, which had earlier been expected only by December 15, means Sri Lankan exporters will continue to enjoy duty free access to European Union markets under GSP Plus till next October.


Sri Lanka clothing exporter goes east with US aid

Brandix Lanka, a top Sri Lankan clothing exporter, has got US aid to train workers in a new factory it has set up in the island's east which the government is trying to develop after driving out Tamil Tiger rebels.
The US Agency for International Development and Brandix Lanka are working together to train 600 people for employment at the new factory in Batticaloa district, a US embassy statement said.

LTTE calls all to join the fight

The LTTE’s political head B.Nadesan had told teachers and principals of schools in Vaddakachchi in Kilinochchi district on December 4, that it was time every Tamil in the Wanni war zone joined the fighting cadre of the Liberation Tigers, Express News Service reported yesterday.


Lanka seeks India help to "finish" LTTE faster

COLOMBO: Assuring India that innocent Tamils are not being harmed in the ongoing conflict with the LTTE, Sri Lankan Army Chief Sarath Fonseka
has sought help from New Delhi in island nation's bid to "finish" the Tiger rebels faster.
